About the Tribal Skilling Centre
The Tribal Skilling Centre (TSC), Purulia was established in 2025 under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) to strengthen skill development and livelihood opportunities for tribal communities in the district. Under this national initiative, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has been entrusted with establishing Tribal Skilling Centres across selected tribal districts in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA).
The Tribal Skilling Centre in Purulia is being implemented through Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), Purulia, enabling tribal youth and women to access quality vocational education, practical skill training, and entrepreneurship opportunities close to their communities.
Since its establishment, the Centre has focused on developing industry-relevant skills, promoting self-employment, supporting sustainable livelihoods, and creating pathways for economic independence among tribal communities through inclusive and community-based training programmes.

HIRANMOY MANDIHIRANMOY MANDIComing from a financially struggling family in Asan Boni village, Hiranmoy Mandi enrolled in the Plumbing Training Programme at the Tribal Skilling Centre to build practical skills and improve his livelihood. After completing the course, he began receiving work opportunities with the support of his trainer and gradually established himself as a skilled plumber. Today, he earns ₹9,000–₹10,000 per month, helping support his family and proving how vocational training can transform lives.

“Learning tailoring transformed my passion into a sustainable source of income.”
Determined to become financially independent, Aarti Singh Mura joined the Assistant Dress Maker training at the Tribal Skilling Centre. After completing the programme, she started her own tailoring business by stitching garments and sourcing fabrics from Purulia town. Through her dedication and hard work, she now earns around ₹8,000 per month, supporting her family while inspiring other young women in her community to pursue skill-based livelihoods.

With limited family income and few employment opportunities, Astami Soren enrolled in the Assistant Dress Maker course at the Juri Tribal Skilling Centre. Today, she earns ₹3,000–₹4,000 per month, contributing to her family’s income and demonstrating how skill development can empower rural women towards self-reliance.
